As Father’s Day approaches there are so many reasons to be encouraged here at the Center …
One big reason is an opportunity I had to visit the White House. I was one of ten people honored as “Champions of Change” in the field of fatherhood.
This is an effort by the White House Office of Public Engagement and Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships to promote positive fatherhood, and it’s my privilege to be there and talk about Championship Fathering … “from the White House to the outhouse,” as I always say.
I am also humbled. I know that I couldn’t receive this honor if it wasn’t for others who are letting me stand on their shoulders as I live out my dream. I am thankful for my parents, my family members, the staff and board members at the National Center, the Center’s founder, Ken Canfield, and Peter Spokes, former NCF President and C.O.O. who passed in 2010. Both men left a strong legacy. And of course there are many others who came before me to pave the way or who are still partnering in our work to help us make a difference for fathers. Thank you all!

This Father’s Day, I hope you’re honoring fathers and father figures who have blessed your life. Thank you for being the dad your children need.
